SPIRIT DREAM CATCHER
Ojibwe legend speaks to us of the dream catcher. Like a spider spins a web for life, a dream catcher is handcrafted with prayer and good thoughts. Legend says that bad spirit dreams will get caught in the web and held fast and then disappear as the dew evaporates in the morning. However, the good spirit dreams and visions will find their way to the center spirit hole and will float down the sacred spirit feathers to bless the sleeping one with trouble free dreams.

STORYTELLER-DREAM CATCHER
Traditionally, storytellers are the member of a tribe that carried the oral history of the tribe. Storytellers share their life’s lessons and experiences with others through their telling of “stories”. The dream catcher filters out bad thoughts and allows good thoughts, beliefs, and lessons to pass through to the individual. The storyteller uses these thoughts when sharing life’s lessons with others. This storyteller-dream catcher was crafted with presenters, educators, and teachers in mind; for they are the future of the traditional storyteller |

TURTLE (TORTOISE)
During the great flood, when all the land was covered in water, the animals had no place to go. It was the tortoise that allowed the animals to climb onto it’s back for safety. A maiden came down from the sky to help the animals. She asked the water animals to swim to the bottom and find mud. The muskrat returned with mud, which the maiden spread around the tortoise’s back. She continued spreading the mud around and around the tortoises back, making the land grow and grow until all the animals, including man, were safe. For his selflessness the tortoise was given the ability to live on the land and in the water, along with it’s own island - turtle island. It is said that the land the indian maiden made is what is called north america, including part of central america. |
